With Social Networking, relationships are key, and developing those relationships is your main goal. Developed relationships not only create sales leads, but can also become your greatest marketing campaign! The great part about taking your business into Social Networking is that your marketing efforts can start to take on a life of their own. With features like “retweet“, “sharing” on facebook, or “sharethis” for blogs, even if you only have 100 followers, those 100 followers have the potential to share your message with all of their friends, and you could possibly be reaching thousands!

How does it work? Here is an example:

Below is a link that showed up on my Facebook page because I am a fan of Village Books. I happen to like books, so I want to share this interesting article with all my friends…A link posted on a fan page

Clicking on the “Share” button between “like” and “report” I get this dialog box. Here I have the options of emailing it to a friend, or posting it to my profile.facebook share screen

After typing some text in the “What’s on your mind?” box, I click share and below is how it looks on my profile. This might seem common sense or even trivial, but don’t forget that this post is now being shared with every single one of MY friends. Considering the average Facebook user has over 150 friends, every time your link, or video, or picture gets shared you have the potential to reach that many more people!
facebook post shared
So don’t be discouraged if your fan base is small right now. I personally have 267 friends, and I know many others who have hundreds more. If I happen to like something you posted on your fan page, be encouraged that you just reached 267 more people.
